The house numbered 112 on Ocean Avenue has been empty for 13 months after the DeFeo murdered his family members, until in December 1975 Lutz family bought the house for $ 80,000. The house has six bedrooms was built with the Dutch colonial style, and has a curved roof. The house is equipped with a swimming pool and a house boat storage. George and Kathy were married in July 1975 and have their own homes, but want to start again with a new house. Kathy has three children from a previous marriage, Daniel (9), Christopher (7), and Melissa aka Missy (5). They also have a Labrador dog named Harry. During the time to checks they will buy the house, by their agents have been advised of a murder committed by DeFeo, but they thought it was not a problem.
Lutz family moved the house on December 18, 1975. Most of the DeFeo family furniture was still there, because all included in the purchase and sale agreement. George knew a Catholic priest named Father Ray, and he was willing to do the blessing. (In Anson's book mentioned name is Reverend Father Mancuso. Father Mancuso is a lawyer, a Catholic priest and a psychotherapist who lives in the Sacred Heart Rectory. He arrived to perform a blessing on the afternoon of December 18, 1975 while George and Kathy were unpacking their belongings. When he wagged his first holy water and began to pray, he heard a voice clearly saying "Get out!" - "Get out!". While leaving the house, he was not told what happened to George and Kathy. On December 24, 1975, Father Mancuso called George Lutz and advised him not to use the room where he had heard the strange sound. This room is a room that she planned to use as a sewing room, and had been the bedroom Marc and John Matthew DeFeo. Disconnected telephone conversation abruptly, and the next visit to the house of the Father Mancuso cause high fever, and the arms found signs similar to the signs stigmata.

We have all been raised with ghosts in our lives. Cartoons, stories & Legends, Halloween, and deceased relatives that we wonder about. We all die so it's part of our heritage, no matter what culture that is. We know as far back as man has been writing symbols on walls that we've contemplated spirits from another realm.
Ghosts are more than deceased people. If they were just that, there would be nothing to talk about. Crossing over to the next dimension doesn't make you a ghost. Ịt's when you come back and let your presence be known among the living. They move an object, provide a fleeting glance, come to us in our dreams, and whisper to us though we may not be able to see them. They are souls that have something to show, do or say to us.
What are ghosts?Why do they come back? What is so compelling to them that they are not in final rest where they are in the afterlife? I think there are many reasons. For some, it's unfinished business. For others, it's pure love. They simply don't want to let go. Something strong exists within them to want to come back to this realm to hold dear, expose or endure something strong to them. I think it applies to the living as well. Why do we cling to thoughts of those that have passed, even to those that are still living? I guarantee you it's for many of the same reasons they do. Just because we leave this dimension doesn't mean we stop being human in our thoughts and desires. What we are here is what we take with us. The same love, fear, and desires don't cease when we do.
I think ghosts are just those souls strong enough to break through the dimensions to express their will or cling to some past. There are several ways they can do this. One of the most common are those that have just recently crossed over. Their energy is still strong enough that it's possible for them to be seen and even communicated with just a few hours or days after their departure. One might call this their etheric presence. It fades shortly after the physical perishes but it too diminishes quickly, like an aura that no longer has a host.
Equal to the pull of love is anguish. More than not, a ghost is a person whose life ended abruptly and sometimes violently. This can be known as a haunting because they are haunted by a life now gone. The haunting is from their thoughts and their presence become testimony to that.
If you think about it, ghosts are just you and I. What will become of us when we move on? Will we come back? Will we want to? I guess we'll find out.

  When we first arrived, the ambience of the inn was incredible. A very strong sense of history and majesty is apparent immediately. We were excited to have a tour, the highlights of which were the basement (closed to the public) and the De Goya room. Legends of children dying in this inn are common, the original owners son in this room. We stayed in the ambassador suite where a forbidden lover strangled his lover and then hung himself out of guilt for killing her. He was Carl, a stable boy, she a maid named Jessica. Both of us kept getting an eerie feeling of being watched, our daughter staring at corners and smiling at something over our shoulders, both uncharacteristic of her. I took digital photos of all the rooms and basement, and the dining hall, many orbs captured. I got an overwhelming feeling of a chill pass over me the outer corner of the dining room. Once asleep, I woke to find myself sweating bullets. The room was comfortable, maybe a bit chilly when I lied down. My girl woke up and said she was also hot. She turned on the fan and we both went back to sleep. I was awakened by a bang at the double door to our room. I got spooked by this because we were the only people in the building. The staff was all gone and locked up 3 or 4 hours earlier. I lay in bed staring at the wall near my side of the bed and tried to talk myself back to sleep, but I heard voices, giggles, heavy footsteps and the bathroom door creaking loudly over and over. I made sure to close all windows in our room, so after an hour or so I woke my girl and asked her if she heard anything strange. Of course she said 'no, it's an old hotel, go to sleep'. (The next day she told me she heard things too) After about 45 more minutes of me trying to sleep, my daughter woke up screaming, which she has only done once before. We brought her to bed and 10 minutes after I got an intense feeling of dread. I was being lured to turn over and look at the bathroom door. I talked myself into it and turned over. Staring into the dark I saw nothing at first, and then above the shower curtain I saw a weird emerald light. It was bright, but not the way a light bulb is, it didn't illuminate the bathroom at all. It was as if it was directed at me, somehow. I wanted to move and get up, take a picture, but I couldn't get up the nerve. I watched it for what seemed like 10 minutes, and then it disappeared. I got up and turned on the light, but I found nothing to explain the strange green glow. I look forward to staying there again with more equipment and more courage.

Why would a demon be stronger than a ghost, or deceased human? Depending on our beliefs, we can understand why angels, blessed with powers from higher dimensions are maybe stronger than deceased humans, but why a demon? In fact, why either entity since we too are of the same cosmic fabric? If I had an answer it would be "experience" or that they have been in that realm for so much longer. When we cross over, that is relatively new territory for many souls. For demons and angels, this is their long endured habitat and home. The demon is cunning and the angel enlightened. Really, you can think of it as a good/bad adult (demon/angel) dealing with an inexperienced child (ghost). They hold the experience we lack and are full of tricks (demons), or miracles (angels) of which either inspire or frighten us. Ị also think miracles and tricks are inherent in us too, but they are more readily accessible and producible by these beings because this is what they have been doing for many life-times. I think our abilities and faults are a microcosm of theirs.
With this said, it doesn't mean that ghosts cannot be the very thing angels and demons are. An entity, once human, can descend or ascend into either characteristic. A child, once loved on earth, can come back and lift the spirits (literally) of those most dear to it and be called an angel. A person who has crossed over from irreparably painful circumstances can spiral into negativity and do demonic things.
We can surmise that to be demonic or angelic, versus ghostly, is an advanced stage of positive or negative, while a ghost is more inexperienced and neutral. In time, we too will be angelic or demonic, depending on the path our soul takes.
